Moving Pieces

Ink and watercolour on pages of 150 discarded books
750 tiles, 13 cm x 13 cm each, 2022

In ‘Moving Pieces’, I venture into the realm of perception and memory, continuously questioning the elusive boundaries between reality and illusion. These patterns emerge from a deeply meditative process. Drawing inspiration from the enchanting Athangudi tiles of my hometown, Chettinad, in Tamil Nadu, South India, I breathe new life into discarded books. These recreated tiles symbolically encapsulate the ever-shifting terrain of our memories, reminding us that within the pages of information lies the quest for truth—a quest with pieces forever in motion.
